A message to all the GIRLS in the world: YOU ARE BE-YOU-TIFUL

I wanted to start this month on a positive note. I have decided to write a letter about one of the most important things in our society that needs addressing: the insecurity girls face. I would like to thank my dear friends who have inspired me to write this. This is dedicated this to all the girls and women of the WORLD who are so INSANELY BEAUTIFUL and TALENTED.

Dear Beautilful

Have you made any resolutions? Resolutions that are realistic and will last longer than a week? If you have, I congratulate you because frankly I have given up. This year I have a request for you: Be good to yourself. Treat yourself with kindness and drown yourself with love.

A lot of girls feel insecure because of the environment around them. Every ad on TV and every model on the ramp depict a certain type of “beautiful” which has left a lot of you feeling inferior. You are a unique soul ( 1 out of over 7 BILLION people to be exact) and this is cause for celebration. The truth is you are not half as cruel to your friends and you are to yourselves. They’re imperfections are why we love them so much and I am positive they feel the same way about you.

I do not think there is anything more classy, than a girl who holds her head high and accepts herself to the core. You’re God given qualities- no matter what your colour, race, size, and gender- are special. I have come to know some great souls who are not in fact size 0 but they are THE most amazing people I have in my life. I would not trade them for anything. You should strive to be a person people would love to spend hours with at a time; whose laugh is effortlessly beautiful; who is clumsy and makes mistake but is not ashamed of all that. You know what else I love? Snort laughs. Two of my close friends laugh like that, as if they are the only two people on this planet. And let me tell you, they are two people I would not want to lose for anything. With them, I have created some of my most cherished memories.

Be like the sun. It rises every morning while the world is asleep. We never stop to admire its beauty. Yet each morning it rises, a new sunrise, a different sunrise but as beautiful as ever. And one day if it were not to rise, our lives would not be the same. So I say it again: be like the sun. Be the person people love to be around and the person whose presence will be missed when you are no longer with them. That sounds pretty grim and depressing. I’m sorry!

Marilyn Monroe once said, “Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.” And with this final thought, I will leave you to decide how you feel about yourself. Life is a very harsh sentence to lay down for yourself. Be as kind to yourself as you are to your friends because you more than anyone else on this planet deserve your own love and affection.

Lots of love,
