PESHAWAR: At least 17 people were killed and 29 others injured when an explosion occurred on a bus carrying Secretariat employees on Peshawar’s Charsadda Road, DawnNews reported.
According to preliminary reports, the bus carrying employees was on its way near Gul Bela on Charsadda Road when the explosion occurred. Subsequently, at least 17 people were killed and 29 others injured in the attack, according to Commissioner Peshawar Division Sahibzada Anees Khan.
As a result of the explosion, the bus was completely destroyed.
The casualties were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar.
Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, lies on the edge of Pakistan’s tribal areas, labelled by Washington as the main sanctuary for Al Qaeda and Taliban militants in the country. The city has seen frequent attacks by militants in the past few years, with targets ranging from civilians to policemen and other law enforcement personnel.
