Karachi Kings’ captain Imad Wasim is expected to be fine after suffering a nasty fall during their HBL Pakistan Super League match against Lahore Qalandars here at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday night.
With the game in a crucial stage, Imad backpedalled to pluck a fine catch to dismiss Sohail Khan off Mohammad Amir but bumped his head and neck into the turf in the process. The Pakistan all-rounder was stretchered off the field. He had scans and was kept under observation on Sunday night. Later on Monday afternoon, a PSL tweet announced that “his vitals are fine”.
Earlier, speaking after the match Karachi coach Mickey Arthur brushed aside speculations that Imad might have suffered from a serious injury.
“Imad seems okay,” said Arthur who described Sunday night’s encounter against Lahore as “a fantastic game, something the tournament needed.”
Qalandars, who have already fallen out of the race for the playoffs, edged Karachi in a Super Over thanks to some brilliant bowling from Sunil Narine in the final over.
Arthur believed his team fell around 10 runs short.
He also conceded that his players committed several “schoolboy errors”, and added that the team will sit down and assess the players’ performance before the next game.
