President Obama says the United States would delay plans to strike Syria – if the country agreed to hand over its chemical weapons.
The government in Syria is accused of using chemical weapons against its own people – but the Syrian regime denies this.
Russia suggested on Monday that Syria could hand over its chemical weapons.
President Obama said a handover would put plans for military action on hold.
When asked if he would delay plans for a military strike if the Syrian government handed over its chemical weapons, Mr Obama answered: “Absolutely, if in fact that happened.”
